Broward County > Administrator > Lobbyist Information

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners approved an Ordinance relating to lobbying activities. This Ordinance expands the activities for which a person must register as a lobbyist with Broward County and the penalties for violating the registration and reporting requirements of the Broward County Lobbyist Registration Act.

Online Lobbyist Registration

Broward County has launched Online Lobbyist Registration. The current lobbyist registration period ends on June 30, at which time registration will automatically expire and, effective July 1, 2009, lobbyist registration will be online.

Online registration offers several benefits, including:

  • 24/7 access to update or change registration information through a password-protected login
  • the ability to update, add or remove clients from registration (profiles will be automatically updated)
  • the ability to use keywords to search the database for lobbyist information and client representation
  • expedited, paperless registration

Cone of Silence

The Ordinance also creates a Cone of Silence that applies upon short listing. The Ordinance only applies to procurement activities, i.e., request for proposals, request for letters of interest, bids or other competitive solicitation. It does not apply to sole source procurements.
