Broward County operates two animal shelters that are adoption centers for homeless dogs and cats. Kittens and cats are also available for adoption at all Broward County Pet Supermarket stores.
Effective Tuesday, September 7, Broward County Animal Care and Regulation will offer new hours of operation for both the Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach Adoption Center facilities. The new hours will provide residents the opportunity to adopt a pet at the Fort Lauderdale Adoption Center on Saturdays and Sundays.

Tuesday through Friday: 1 to 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Drop Off a Dog or Cat:
Tuesday through Friday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Clinic Hours:
Tuesday through Friday, 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
(for rabies vaccination only - no appointment is necessary)
Tuesday through Friday, 4:30 to 6 p.m.
(for newly adopted pets - by appointment only)
