The Broward County Charter provides for the appointment of a Charter Review Commission. The Commission is authorized and empowered to conduct a comprehensive study of any or all phases of county government.

The Commission's last term was from June 2006 to November 2008. Proposed amendments were presented to the electorate at the general election in November 2008. The next scheduled Broward County Charter Review Commission begins in 2015 and every ten years thereafter.
