The Ethics Commission was approved by the electorate at a special referendum election held in conjunction with the General Election on November 4, 2008.
Purpose:

To establish a Code of Ethics for the Broward County Commission.

To work in a collaborative and communicative nature with the County Commission in drafting the Code of Ethics.

The Ethics Commission shall present a Code of Ethics to the Broward County Commission for consideration no later than at the first County Commission meeting in March 2010. If the Broward County Commission fails to adopt the Proposed Ethics Code as proposed within 180 days of its receipt of the proposal, the Proposed Ethics Code shall be presented to the electors of Broward County for consideration at the November 2010 general election. If approved by the electors of Broward County, the Proposed Ethics Code shall become part of the Broward County Code of Ordinances.

Members shall serve until a Code of Ethics is adopted by either the Broward County Commission or the electors of Broward County.

If a member fails to attend any three (3) consecutive meetings, that member shall be considered to have vacated their seat, and the vacancy will be filled in the same manner as the original appointment.
The public is invited to attend all meetings and will be invited to ask questions and/or comment from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
