Third Annual Southeast Florida Climate Leadership Summit a Huge Success 

The Third Annual Southeast Florida Climate Leadership Summit, held on December 8 -9 in Key Largo, was attended by over 250 participants. The highlight of the Regional Summit was the unveiling of the Regional Climate Action Plan. Comments on the Plan will be accepted through February 9, 2012.  The Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact is a joint commitment of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties to partner in mitigating the causes and adapting to the consequences of climate change.  More...


Manatees 

Manatee Season in Full Swing …and Counting
(303 manatees on Feb. 2, 2012)

For the fifth straight year, we are monitoring weekly the numbers and locations of manatees throughout Broward County. These aerial surveys have shown that even a brief cold spell may bring hundreds of manatees in only a couple of days. At times over 1,000 manatees have been counted, approximately 20% of the entire state population.  Boaters are urged to be vigilant and obey posted speed limits on all waterways.  More...

Broward Water Partnership Offers Toilet Rebates

Broward County and 16 city and water utility partners are offering rebates and other water conserving tools as of October 1. The program plans to issue at least 1700 rebates for up to $100 toward the purchase of a high efficiency toilet. More...
