The Permitting, Licensing and Consumer Protection Division promotes compliance with community standards through enforcement of applicable zoning codes and regulations set forth in the Broward County Code of Ordinances. The Division enforces regulations concerning zoning requirements, including landscaping, signs, special events, and use and setback requirements for buildings.
The Broward County Zoning Code also provides standards for property maintenance. The Permitting, Licensing and Consumer Protection Division enforces those standards by addressing property maintenance problems that can negatively impact a neighborhood or community, including the following:
- overgrown lots
- stagnant swimming pools
- junk vehicles
- derelict vessels
- abandoned property
The Division also works to accomplish neighborhood revitalization and the enhancement of quality of life through many programs including, but not limited to, education and citizen outreach, free paint distribution and neighborhood bicycle patrols. In addition, our agency serves as the primary agency for enforcing neighborhood enhancement plans as part of the Neighborhood Preservation and Enhancement Districts within unincorporated Broward County.
